PACKAGES FOR BABIES UP TO 15 WEEKS OF AGE -

Studio in Goolwa, SA

I personally believe anywhere from 1 - 12 weeks can work for shooting newborns, your outcome will just be a little different depending which way you choose to go.

At 12 weeks of age, babies have filled out a little more, make eye contact, smile and will look a lot more like the way they will in the long run, but in the first couple of weeks, they are small, sleepy, and more easily mouldable into snuggly positions. Within the first 10 days is ideal for newborns.

Examples of these two ages can be found here on this blog -

PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION -

~ Nothing is the best wardrobe for a baby – no outfit fits a baby all that well, and they often look swallowed in clothes. Accessories are good, though – little hats, dainty headbands etc. Have sentimental items like the quilt that Grandma made for the baby, a baby blanket from your own childhood – they’re great for the youngster to lay on.

~ I am prepared with all the props needed – blankets, wraps, baskets, some beanies, headbands, etc for you to choose from (in addition to any special items you have, of course)

To prepare your baby:

I allow plenty of time for baby sessions, so it’s fine to take our time and not rush. If we need to break for a change, top-up feed, cuddle, or anything else, that’s all perfectly normal.

~ A well-fed baby is a happy baby! It’s best to feed your baby as close to the session time as possible and we aim for you to feed as soon as you arrive in the studio.

~ Don’t worry about milk spots, baby acne, cradle cap, peeling skin, little scratches, etc.

I am able to either eliminate or drastically reduce these minor blemishes as part of the editing process.

~ If your little one has dry skin, try moisturizing them on the morning of their session as this will soften their skin and help me when I begin editing.

To prepare yourself (and any other family members):

~ Allow for these sessions to take at minimum of an hour and a half. These shoots are never rushed and allow for feeding, settling etc.

Prepare siblings for this time. Bring food, drinks, bribery, something for them to do so that they aren't bored while waiting for baby to settle.

~ I recommend that all people who will be photographed with your baby avoid wearing any busy or bold patterns, anything with large logos/brands, and not too much black.
